FEBRUARY 9, 2012
In the absence of President Tom Grimes,
Vice-President Dean Graham called the meeting to
order at 12:13 pm . The following Board members were present: Dean
Graham, Warren Boozer,
Dave Carpenter, Doug Riach, Stan Meade, Jim Ton, and Larry Abramson.
Vice-President Graham introduced
Director of Golf Joe Kelly as our guest speaker. Joe reported that
the new Fire Station is expected to be operational by July 1st with
a Fire pumper and paramedic
ambulance on site. He also said he is pleased with the relocation
of the 9th Tee at Palm Valley. The
City paid for the relocation and re-construction of the Tee, which
was a fairly sizable sum.
Joe said that Green Fees will remain the same throughout this year.
The Diamond Membership
will be reduced by $200
Some renovation work will be done
on bunkers at Highland Falls, especially at the 15th hole. Plans
are to renovate as many as 10 bunkers this year.
The irrigation system at Palm Valley
is obsolete, causing a waste of water in some circumstances,
and will need to be replaced sometime in the near future.
In the interest of providing more
play at our courses, it has been suggested that we move our playing
day to Wednesday, but it was found that many players also bowl in
league on Wednesdays. It was
also suggested that we could play Eagle Crest one or more days a
month, freeing up the larger
courses for more revenue.
VICE-PRESIDENT’S
REPORT – Dean Graham said he would start the new year’s
Hole-in One contest
at $5.00 , with a carry over balance from last year of $175…….The
annual “away” tournament is set
For May in Primm, and the cost will only be $5.00 more than last
year.
A motion was made and seconded to play 18 holes at Eagle Crest the
3rd Thursday of each month,
starting in April . Motion was approved by the membership.
TREASURER’S REPORT - Dave Carpenter
thanked Lin Douglass for performing an audit of our 2011
finances. Dave provided a financial activity report for January
2012 which showed a cash balance of
$5,131.71 as of January 31st.
